Expert Posts: 2276 Location: ohio-in my ain lilliputian world with pretty ponies :)	Soo I'm going to start calling my pound pooch my problem pooch! He is shih tzu so he has long shaggy ears. I gave him a bath a couple days ago and I'm very careful about not getting water in his ears. Well, I'm thinking that happened or possibly an ear infection. Tonight he has started shaking his head a lot and whining when he itches them and is at present starting to pant considering he's getting worked up. I tried looking in his ears merely I don't actually see anything that could be incorrect...tin anyone requite me the quick version of canis familiaris ear cleaning for dummies? Or how to tell if he has an ear infection? Thanks!

They don't like it, simply it may be something that needs to be washed. All of the other cleaning advice is spot on. If the ear gets infected enough you will see black gunk down at that place. Dogs ears are shaped like an L so the bottom part of the ear, closest to the ear drum is where they tin can become water/slime and the infection starts in that location. So, pulling the ear out and away when cleaning will help too.
